    Overview

    To work correctly in Spokn, animation files must meet requirements across four areas:

    • Format and dimensions
    • Transparency setup
    • Duration
    • File performance limits

    Files that do not meet these requirements may fail to upload or may not display correctly in stories.

    1. Format and Dimensions

    Supported Aspect Ratios

    Your animation must match one of the following exactly:

    • 16:9 (Landscape)
    • 9:16 (Portrait)

    Incorrect aspect ratios may result in cropping, distortion, or rendering issues.

    File Type

    • .mov only

    Other file types are not supported.

    2. Transparency Requirements

    Spokn relies on transparency to create smooth transitions between your animation and video content.

    Your file must include transparency at specific points.

    Intro

    • The last 1 second must be fully transparent.

    This allows the animation to transition cleanly into the story content.

    Outro

    • The first 1 second must be fully transparent.

    This ensures a smooth transition from story content into the outro.

    Transition

    • The remainder of the animation may use a white or black background.

    If transparency is missing in the required sections, the animation may not display correctly.

    3. Duration Guidelines

    • Intros and Outros: 3 seconds or less
    • Transitions: 2 seconds

    Shorter animations:

    • Load faster
    • Process more efficiently
    • Deliver a smoother viewing experience

    Long animations may increase processing time and reduce performance.

    4. File Performance Limits

    To maintain reliable uploads and playback, stay within the following limits.

    Frame Rate

    • 30 FPS

    Bitrate

    • Maximum: 40 Mb/s
    • Recommended: Under 10 Mb/s

    File Size

    • Maximum: 15 MB
    • Recommended: Under 5 MB

    Exceeding recommended limits may cause slower uploads or playback instability.

    Pre-Upload Checklist

    Before uploading your file, confirm the following:

    • The file is .mov
    • The aspect ratio is 16:9 or 9:16
    • Intro includes 1 second of transparency at the end
    • Outro includes 1 second of transparency at the beginning
    • Duration is under 5 seconds (recommended)
    • Bitrate is under 10 Mb/s (recommended)
    • File size is under 5 MB (recommended)
